St. Mary’s strives to develop character, build self-esteem, and teach the values of teamwork and good sportsmanship. We do all this while unequivocally acknowledging the importance of the Lord our Father, and our savior Jesus Christ, in our lives.

St. Mary’s is proud of its athletic tradition, success, and recognized athletic program in Miami-Dade County and in the All-Catholic Conference. We strive to build self-esteem and instill the values of teamwork and sportsmanship in our student-athletes. Our student-athletes must also recognize the omnipresence of religion in all our lives. In addition, another goal is to foster our students’ passion for sports while instilling a lifelong work ethic. St. Mary’s Athletic Program wants athletics to open doors and create enjoyable habits for life, and we prepare each student to lead a productive life by providing a sense of identity, personal integrity and strong morals and values.

Student-athletes are just that, “students” first and athletes” second.  The importance of academics and receiving a stellar education are heavily stressed and upheld at St. Mary’s Cathedral School. High academic standards must be adhered to in order to participate on our athletic teams. Physical activity and character development are essential for each student-athlete. Athletics at St. Mary’s are fundamentally valuable and complement the academic rigor that helps fulfill the overall goals we have for all our students at St. Mary’s.

St. Mary’s currently participates in four major sports at the primary, junior varsity, and/or varsity levels. Players who are younger but skilled and talented may play at a competition level that is beyond their age or grade level.
